Stories create magic and a sense of wonder in the world. Stories teach us about life and about ourselves. Storytelling is a unique way for children to develop an understanding, respect, and appreciation for other cultures, and can promote a positive attitude toward people from different parts of the world.

If you want your children to be smart, tell them stories. If you want them to be brilliant, tell them more stories. – Albert Einstein

Keeping in mind all these important aspects. Our teachers introduced the core reader “Little Rex“ through multiple activities.

The story was introduced first by a video watch in order to make them familiar with the characters and plot of the story. After the video-watch, our teachers presented the role-play of the story.
As role play is a key component in children’s learning. It is a social space that not only enhances speaking and listening skills but also develops critical thinking as well. Multiple activities were designed to give children an opportunity to reflect on and develop their knowledge of the topic whilst sparking and enhancing their creativity and imagination.
The students of KG enjoyed taking part in the following activities.
1. Video watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmN_tCISF0Q   (Library )
2. Role play by teachers: Students asked questions about the names of characters and story
events.
3. Find the dinosaur eggs:  Large size plaster of Paris eggs were hidden under a sand tub.
Students had to find the eggs at least 3.
4. Fix the Rex Spike: A big dinosaur was displayed. The students pasted the spikes on it.
Spikes were made of soft felt.
5. Shadow drawing of dinosaurs: Plastic dinosaurs were kept on the table students drew the
outline following the shadow and colored their dinosaurs.
6. Let’s create a new dinosaur: Jumbled-up Cutouts of dinosaurs were placed. They
assembled and created their own dinosaur.

7. Dino Masks: Students did pasting of different items such as buttons, bottle caps, plastic
straws, pieces of felt, and crape paper, ribbons etc. and prepare their own masks and took
their masks home.
It was worth- learning and a fun-filled activity that engaged all students.
