At Beaconhouse Rahim Yar Khan Campus, we believe in fostering a love for reading and literature among our students. In line with this vision, we recently organized an exciting virtual interactive session with Lynne Rickards, the acclaimed author of the Class 3 Reader “You and Me.” This event was a memorable experience for our young readers, providing them with the unique opportunity to engage directly with the author whose stories they have come to love.

An Inspiring Interaction

The virtual session began with a warm welcome from our school principal, who highlighted the importance of reading and the joy of connecting with authors who bring stories to life. Lynne Rickards, joining us from her home in Scotland, shared her journey as a writer, her sources of inspiration, and the creative process behind “You and Me.” She discussed the themes of friendship, empathy, and understanding that are central to the book, resonating deeply with our students.

Engaging Q&A Session

One of the most exciting parts of the session was the interactive Q&A segment. Students had the chance to ask Lynne questions they had prepared eagerly. Questions ranged from inquiries about her favorite characters to her writing routine and advice for aspiring young writers. Lynne’s thoughtful and encouraging responses not only satisfied their curiosity but also motivated them to explore their own creative potential.

Lynne also treated the students to a live reading of a favorite chapter from “You and Me,” bringing the characters and story to life with her expressive narration. This was followed by an interactive activity where students were invited to create their own story endings or draw their favorite scenes from the book. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by the students were truly heartening.

Fostering a Love for Reading

This virtual session with Lynne Rickards was more than just an event; it was an educational experience that reinforced the joys of reading and the power of imagination. By connecting our students with a real-life author, we bridged the gap between the pages of a book and the world beyond, making literature a tangible and exciting part of their lives.

We are committed to continuing such enriching experiences for our students. This session with Lynne Rickards is the first of many planned interactive events aimed at nurturing a lifelong love for reading and learning. We are grateful to Lynne for her time and for inspiring our young readers, and we look forward to organizing more sessions with other authors and literary figures in the future.
