At Pre-Nursery, everyday activities are often turned into valuable learning opportunities, and a shopping activity is no exception! Recently, our little ones took part in a delightful shopping experience in accordance with our shopping theme that not only sparked their imagination but also helped them develop important life skills. From using play money to selecting items they “needed,” this hands-on activity was both fun and educational.

The backyard was transformed into a mini shopping mall, complete with shelves stocked with food, toys, and everyday items. Little ones were excited to explore the “stores” set up around. There was a grocery store, a toy shop, and even a clothing section, giving them a variety of options to choose from.

During the shopping activity, children learned about the concept of money and how to make decisions based on their needs and wants. They were given play money to “purchase” items, and in the process, they practiced counting and even taking turns as cashiers or customers. They learned how to prioritize and make choices between different items, helping them understand the concept of needs versus wants.

Working together as customers and shopkeepers, the children practiced taking turns, cooperating, and engaging in friendly conversations. The activity encouraged role-playing, sparking creativity as the children “shopped” for everything from fruits and vegetables to books and toys.

Through activities like this, preschoolers gain essential life skills in a playful and interactive way. Not only does it make learning fun, but it also helps children understand real-world concepts, such as money management and social interactions, in a safe, supportive environment.

In the end, our BSS- JTJ shopping activity was a huge success, bringing joy and learning together in a memorable experience for all.
