The Head of School, Ms. Sumera Savez, made a warm and thoughtful effort to connect with parents by organizing a series of interactive Meet and Greet sessions during the winter break. With over a decade of experience in the field of education, she is a passionate educator and a beacon of dedication and wisdom. Through her vision and leadership, she is striving to make school a thriving learning community where both students and teachers are empowered to reach their fullest potential.
Reflecting this commitment to building strong relationships, parents were invited in small, manageable groups over the course of two weeks, beginning with Toddlers and continuing up to Grade 2. This thoughtful structure created a welcoming space for open dialogue, allowing for meaningful conversations and ensuring that every parent felt heard, valued, and truly connected to the school community.
She began each session by introducing herself in a very approachable manner, sharing her vision and the school’s philosophy for Early Years and Lower Primary. She explained how the focus is not only on academics but also on building confidence, independence, and strong values in young learners. Parents appreciated the clarity provided about the assessment policy, which emphasized continuous progress rather than pressure.
The introduction of the Leader in Me program in Lower Primary was shared with enthusiasm, highlighting how students are encouraged to take responsibility and develop leadership skills from an early age. Important school policies, including admissions and required documentation, were explained clearly to avoid any confusion. A virtual tour of the GC added a nice touch, helping parents visualize their child’s learning environment.
She also gently reinforced the importance of punctuality and regular attendance, linking it to student success. Practical aspects such as PBL, the use of PVC cards, and pick-up procedures were explained in a simple and reassuring way.
Parents were also guided on the various modes of communication to ensure smooth and consistent interaction with the school. Even simple celebrations, such as birthdays, were thoughtfully addressed, aligning them with school values to ensure they remain meaningful yet modest.
What stood out most was how parents were actively engaged throughout. They participated in small discussions and activities, making the sessions lively and interactive. New initiatives like DEAR time, book borrowing for parents, well-being activities, and community drives were shared with excitement.
Overall, the sessions created a strong sense of connection, trust, and partnership between the school and parents.
