Guided by the driving question:
“How can we use sunlight and shadows to create a fascinating story?”
Throughout the entry event, students investigated how light travels through different materials—identifying and experimenting with transparent, translucent, and opaque objects. They observed how shadows are formed and discovered how shadows change in size, shape, and direction depending on the position of the light source. These concepts were not only understood but actively applied in creative and scientific explorations.
Students worked collaboratively and individually to design and present their own imaginative Shadow Theatre stories. They beautifully combined science with storytelling, bringing their ideas to life through light, movement, and creativity.
Expected Learning Outcomes & Achievements
Students learned to;
- Conduct experiments to understand light and materials
- Explore shadow formation through real-life observations
- Create artistic and innovative shadow-based stories
- Use recycled materials to design creative props and models
- Demonstrate confidence in presenting their ideas

Learning Beyond the Classroom
This E-STEAM project’s entry event has been a truly enriching experience, empowering our Grade 2 learners to think like scientists, create like artists, and express like storytellers. It has nurtured curiosity, creativity, and a love for exploration.
We are incredibly proud of our young learners as they continue to shine brightly—using light and shadow to tell stories, ask questions, and discover the world around them!
