Global dignity day, celebrated annually on the third Wednesday of October, is a day which promotes the idea of giving everyone respect and that everyone has their own value and worth.
Why we celebrate Global Dignity Day?
The main goal of this day is to acknowledge that everybody has dignity, no matter who they are and where they are from. It is about treating people kindly and giving them respect. By showing dignity, we can make others around us feel valued and happy.
Founders of Global Dignity Day
Global Dignity Day was started by three young global leaders who founded the organization ‘Global Dignity’ in 2005: Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, John Bryant (CEO and Founder of Operation HOPE), and Pekka Himanen (author and philosopher).
Principles of Dignity
The day is guided by five principles of dignity, including the right to a dignified life, and access to essential services. So. let us play our positive roles to make this world a beautiful place full of happiness and broad smiles.
