We at BEC, believe that knowledge is to be celebrated. Therefore, as we come towards the end of an academic session, we wanted to celebrate the new learning, skills and knowledge that our Early Years Students have gained with our prized guests the Executive Director-North of Beaconhouse School System (BSS), Mr. Nassir Kassuri, and the Regional Director-North, Mr. Khawaja Hiader Latif. Their presence added prestige to the event and inspired both students and faculty alike. We wanted to Culminate the Academic Session 2023-24 with pomp and show to make it memorable for our little Beaconites and their Parents.

Culmination aims to showcase what students learned and if they can apply their newly learned skill. It is the most important day in a student’s school life as they showcase their understanding to receive feedback and learn to accept compliments.

Culminating events have several benefits for young students. Presenting information to others is motivating for students and can take learning deeper. As students analyse what they have learned and done, they remember experiences, synthesize information and determine which aspects are the most important to share with others. While this may seem like a simple skill, it is not one that is present in many students. Culminating events also provides an opportunity for teamwork and collaboration to accomplish goals.

In addition, the students gain real world experiences in using language skills to get their ideas across clearly. We coach our young learners to be comfortable talking in front of others. As the students grow, their presentation skills develop and they begin to have more complex oral presentations. Due to this very reason, we celebrated Culmination Day of Early Years on April 18th, 2024.

Alongside Early Years Culmination, we also celebrated Crowning Moments of the Artistic skills of Primary and Middle School Students. Their beautiful artisanship was presented in the most innovative way to depict their proficiency. Saad Sadiq Hall was certainly lit up with the beautiful creations of our brilliant artists and our young Early Years students’ presentations. The parents and our Esteemed Guests were certainly in awe and full of praises for them so as Ms. Ayesha Shams, the dedicated school head, lauded her staff for their unwavering commitment and passion in guiding and nurturing the students. Her words of praise echoed through the halls, acknowledging the collective effort of the teachers in fostering an environment where every child can thrive and shine.

“Each hurdle, high and steep

Yet your faith you did keep.

                     Mountains moved, rivers crossed,

For dreams, no matter the cost.

Now, at journeys end, you stand tall,

A victor, having given your all

The world claps, and so do I,

For spirits like yours truly fly.”
