As a student at Beaconhouse, I had always heard seniors talk about MUN as one of the most exciting experiences of school life. This year, when I finally became a part of BECMUN 2026, I understood why.

Model United Nations (MUN) is not just about wearing formal clothes and speaking English confidently. It is about stepping into the shoes of world leaders, understanding global issues, and learning how to express your opinions with logic and respect. For me, BECMUN was more than a conference, it was a journey of growth.

Stepping Into a New World

On the opening day, the atmosphere felt professional and inspiring. Seeing delegates from different grades and campuses made me realize that this was something serious. When we sat in our committees, ready with our placards and research files, I felt both nervous and excited.

Representing Pakistan (my own country) was a huge responsibility. I had to think beyond my personal opinions and speak according to my country’s stance. This helped me develop critical thinking skills and understand international relations in a practical way , something textbooks alone cannot teach.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

One of the most important lessons I learned at BECMUN was confidence. Initially, raising my placard felt scary. What if I made a mistake? What if others disagreed? But once I delivered my first speech, I realised that MUN is not about being perfect, it is about being prepared and respectful.

Debates in the committee taught me:
• How to structure arguments clearly
• How to respond politely to opposing views
• How to negotiate and build alliances
• How to work as a team while drafting resolutions

These skills are not only useful for MUN but for real life as well.

More Than Just Debate

BECMUN was not limited to committee sessions. The Global Village and interactions during breaks allowed us to connect with other delegates. We shared ideas, laughed together, and even discussed future ambitions. It was amazing to see how students had meaningful discussions.

The event also highlighted leadership and teamwork. From the Executive Council to the volunteers, everyone worked tirelessly to make the conference successful. It inspired me to aim for leadership roles in the future.

A Personal Transformation

Before BECMUN, I was hesitant to speak in large gatherings. After BECMUN, I feel more confident in expressing my thoughts. I learned that disagreement does not mean disrespect, and discussion can lead to powerful solutions.

As a final year grader, this experience has motivated me to participate in more conferences and improve my research and public speaking skills. BECMUN showed me that students are capable of discussing real-world problems and proposing practical solutions.

Final Thoughts

Being part of BECMUN 2026 was truly unforgettable. It strengthened my confidence, improved my communication skills, and broadened my perspective about global issues. Most importantly, it helped me discover my voice.

To any student who is unsure about joining MUN, I would say: take the chance. You might walk in nervous, but you will walk out stronger, wiser, and more confident.

BECMUN is not just an event at Beaconhouse, it is an experience that shapes future leaders.
