“Leadership is about vision and responsibility, not power.” By Seth Berkley.
The afternoon of 30th September marked a marvelous and memorable event. It was the day when our hardworking members of the “Student Council” were rewarded with bright and colourful sashes. The event began at 3 pm, and proud parents poured into the hall where they were greeted by the whole school faculty. The decorations were such that left everyone awestruck: balloons representing all the four colours of the houses, and a stage worthy of the occasion. The hall was graced with the sound of our national anthem, played by a young pianist, M.Jawad of Grade 1 Indigo. The Head of the school, Ms. Maheen Shafqat reflected upon the new council structure and the electoral and short-listing process. Then, the announcements regarding the three new and beneficial posts was made, them being speakers and a treasurer. The Head girl and Head boy of the previous session were invited to motivate and encourage the newly elected council members to strive hard for making this school year the liveliest one of all through a short speech. The previous Head girl then bestowed the sashes to the three new posts and to the dignity ambassadors, and was part of the group photo along with Ms. Maliha Azeem. Then the previous Head boy gave the sashes to the House Captains of the four distinct houses; Eagles, Falcons, Hawks and Kestrels, the captains being Nimra Atif, Roha Khan, Haziq Khurshid and Danyal Roshan respectively. They also had a group photo taken with Ms. Ambreen Kashif. After each post was called to the stage, they were honoured with an oath taking ceremony to pledge to do what is right for the school and their post. Then the highlight of the event took place. The new head girl, Mehnaz Niazi, and head boy, Ali Zain were awarded the sashes along with their deputies. The oath was taken by our Chief guest, the Regional Director of BSS North Region; Mr. Khawaja Haider Latif. The group photo was taken with Ms. Sana Junaid, and short speeches were made by the new heads of the council. This marked the end of a wonderful event, with both students and parents satisfied.
