There have been many viruses and diseases before but none have been more dangerous than the coronavirus. This deadly virus originated from China in 2019 and it spread to the rest of the world not long after.

It is also known as Covid-19. At first, people hoped that the virus only worked in winters, but all hopes were finished when Covid spread across the world, destroying lives and basically being very dangerous. It is an air-borne virus and is very contagious.

It affects the lungs and enters through our nose and mouth. Its symptoms are fever, flu, colds, coughing, etc. It has affected people personally too, many lost their lives and many lost their relatives, friends, and family.

It also affected educational institutes, forcing them to go online. Many students’ studies were affected in the long period of covid.

However, now, scientists have created a vaccine and many people are now vaccinated, but it is by no means a magical cure for the virus. Now corona’s unexpected panic has decreased, and schools have reopened. For the students’ and teachers’ safety, we are following SOPs that have decreased the contagiousness of Covid. We stay 6 feet away from each other and do not share our belongings. We also wear masks to cover our noses and mouths. The school strictly follows these SOPs, thus decreasing Covid- 19 cases.

I hope that Covid-19 will be gone soon, but it can’t be gone soon, so the only thing we can do is to learn to live with it like so many viruses before.

2020-21 were the most difficult years because a really dangerous virus, namely, Covid-19, attacked us.

Due to this virus, many people lost their lives and students’ studies have been affected too. The schools were closed and we were having online classes. When the school opened we had to follow Covid SOPs. For example, we had to sit with social distancing. We had to sit on the ground to do lunch because if everyone took off their masks there was a chance that the virus could spread. Furthermore, we weren’t allowed to share our things.

This situation still prevails today, after two years. Everything went right a month ago when the covid cases decreased. We started to sit in groups of four. This was going really well before the cases started to increase and the school closed and shifted to online classes.

The online classes went on for a week and then school reopened. Now, we are still following the SOPs to stay safe from the virus.

The good news is that scientists have invented the vaccine and almost everyone in Islamabad has been vaccinated. I hope that this virus finishes soon so we can live a normal life just like before Covid-19. For this, we have to follow SOPs. I also wanted to thank my teachers for following the SOPs so well.

This dangerous virus started in 2019 and it is known as covid- 19. It originated from China.

Its symptoms are flu, cough, fever and it affects the lungs. It is an airborne virus and many people have been affected by it and many people’s studies were affected too. Millions have died because of this virus.

The schools were closing and reopening again and again. In the schools, we had to follow the SOPs because if we did not follow the SOPs the virus could spread more and more which could have been way too dangerous.

The SOPs that were followed in the school due to the virus included wearing masks in the school all the time. We had to carry a sanitizer and had to apply it before lunch or after touching others’ stuff. We had to keep a distance from everybody in the school and that is the reason we are safe today, right now. We are very thankful that our teachers and everyone made us follow the SOPs.

If we work together we can stop this virus and save our loved ones and others.

In the year 2020, when the dreadful disease, covid-19, started to spread, our school, Beaconhouse Educational Complex made sure that we followed the important SOPs for us to learn in a safe, yet fun way. There were a lot of new rules such as :

  • Keeping a safe distance from each other.
  • Washing hands regularly.
  • Wearing a mask at all times.

I really liked the fact that there were hand sanitizer dispensers placed in each corridor. From time to time we would revert to hybrid school to be safe. I really liked the new rules as they were very effective. I really appreciate them. I felt very comfortable and relieved about the SOPs as they made me feel like everything is going to be alright. It gave me a feeling of happiness. I felt very joyful learning this way. I really appreciate the school’s hard work.

What can be done to prevent Covid-19 and what SOPs can be followed?

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that can cause respiratory illness in humans. They are called “corona” because of crown-like spikes on the surface of the virus. COVID-19 enters your body through your mouth, nose, or eyes (directly from airborne droplets or from the transfer of the virus from your hands to your face). The virus travels to the back of your nasal passages and the mucous membrane in the back of your throat. It attaches to cells there, begins to multiply, and moves into lung tissues. From there, the virus can spread to other body tissues. The symptoms of this virus are as follows:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Tiredness
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose

This virus is very deadly and thus, precautions are necessary to prevent its spread. There are several SOPs that must be regularly followed by everyone because, without them, the virus can be very deadly for every individual. Wearing a mask, keeping 6 feet distance from others, washing and sanitizing hands, vaccinations, leaving home only when necessary, and getting tested when having symptoms are a few precautions an individual must consider wherever they go. Similarly, schools, offices, and markets must also take action to follow these SOPs.

Similarly, Beaconhouse School System also follows all the SOPs and tries to keep a check on everyone daily. Everyone’s temperature is checked at the gate during drop off and whoever has a high temperature is sent back. The school staff and students are asked to get their tests done. Moreover, the management ensures that everyone is wearing a mask, whether it is a student, teacher or staff member. With that, there are sanitizer dispensers in each corridor which are refilled whenever required. The students are encouraged to wash and sanitize their hands frequently. Furthermore, the students are seated in individual rows with ample distance so that there are fewer chances of the disease to spread. Morning assembly is held once a week on Mondays only.

With a decrease in cases throughout Pakistan, the strictness of following the SOPs was reduced. However, the school ensured that the necessary precautions must still be taken, and it has had great success in doing so. For instance, since the school canteen opened, the students are making lines with spacing, and food hygiene is given extra attention. Furthermore, since it is now allowed to play sports, sanitizing equipment like basketballs, badminton and table tennis racquets before and after playing has been made a priority. This has made students adjust better to the new normal, as school activities resume once again.
