A Tribute to Ms. Seema: Mentor, Friend, and Guide
Written by Ms. Saima Kamran –
Instructional Coach

Some people enter your life as colleagues but leave as lifelong influences. For me, that person has been Ms. Seema. Though she has now left our school, her presence continues to echo in my daily practice and reflections. This blog is not just about missing her—it is a tribute to the profound impact she has had on me as a teacher, learner, and human being.
Ms. Seema was more than just an experienced colleague. She was a mentor who offered guidance, a role model who embodied patience and resilience, and a morale booster who always found the right words to encourage me. With her slightly older, richly experienced outlook, she understood the challenges of teaching in ways I could not yet see. She reminded me that growth comes through trial, and that even setbacks are stepping stones toward becoming a better educator.
Her influence was especially powerful during my PGCE journey with the University of London last year. That was a demanding time, balancing study, school responsibilities, and personal life. Ms. Seema became my anchor. She not only listened but also shared critical perspectives that sharpened my reflections, challenged my assumptions, and pushed me to engage with the profession more deeply. Many of my insights during that journey carry her imprint, and for that, I remain deeply grateful.
Beyond the professional, she has left me with invaluable life lessons. From her, I learned how the patience we practice in classrooms can also bring peace at home, how empathy and understanding strengthen friendships and social bonds, and how balance between work and personal life is not just desirable but necessary. Watching her manage these aspects with grace inspired me to strive for the same harmony.
Now that she is no longer physically present at school, I feel the gap—the missing encouragement, the laughter we shared, the gentle wisdom she always carried. I already miss her presence deeply, but I carry her lessons within me.
This is my heartfelt thank you to Ms. Seema: for shaping my growth not only as a professional but as a learner-teacher, a parent, a friend, and a person. True mentorship does not end when paths diverge—it lives on in the choices, reflections, and lives it has touched. And for me, her mentorship will always remain a guiding light.
