It is what makes us human and makes o<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-56 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.beaconhouse.net\/almas123\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/231\/2025\/07\/autism1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ur own unique personality. But spectrums like autism make their \u2018special\u2019 a part of them permane<span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background);color: var(--global--color-primary);font-family: var(--global--font-secondary);font-size: var(--global--font-size-base)\">ntly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Autism affects one out of thirty-six children. Autism is, and I quote; \u201cAutism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by repetitive, restricted, and inflexible patterns of behavior, interests, and activities, as well as difficulties in social <span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background);color: var(--global--color-primary);font-family: var(--global--font-secondary);font-size: var(--global--font-size-base)\">interaction and social communication.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Autism comes in levels. My sister is at the extreme part of the spectrum. She is\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background);color: var(--global--color-primary);font-family: var(--global--font-secondary);font-size: var(--global--font-size-base)\">nonverbal, which means she has difficulty communicating with others. We teach her phrases that she repeats, like&#8217; What\u2019s your name?\u2019 and then repeats the question and answer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Many people say that handling kids with autism is \u2018easy\u2019, but it&#8217;s not. I rememb<span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background);color: var(--global--color-primary);font-family: var(--global--font-secondary);font-size: var(--global--font-size-base)\">er the nights my mother would be worried over my little sister, over her future, over what would happen to her, and<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-57 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.beaconhouse.net\/almas123\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/231\/2025\/07\/autism2-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"241\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.beaconhouse.net\/almas123\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/231\/2025\/07\/autism2-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.beaconhouse.net\/almas123\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/231\/2025\/07\/autism2-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/blogs.beaconhouse.net\/almas123\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/231\/2025\/07\/autism2.png 412w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 241px) 100vw, 241px\" \/><span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background);color: var(--global--color-primary);font-family: var(--global--font-secondary);font-size: var(--global--font-size-base)\"> how she would have to live her life. It&#8217;s not a walk in the park, especially with\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background);color: var(--global--color-primary);font-family: var(--global--font-secondary);font-size: var(--global--font-size-base)\">autistic meltdowns. It&#8217;s when autistic people get overstimulated by the environment, which could include crying, yelling, and hitting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I remember when my mother was at Hajj and me, my sister and my dad were alone. I would have to take care of her, sleep with her, feed her, and make sure she\u2019s safe. One day, when my father had taken me and my sister to the park and she had an autistic meltdown. She started to sob and cry in the middle of the park. I don&#8217;t know what goes on in her mind, but I know she was overwhelmed and she was missing something.<\/p>\n<p>I respect and adore my teacher dearly, seeing her relatives go through all this without even being able\u00a0to communicate their thoughts with us breaks me. And it hurts seeing how many people overlook this syndrome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAutism is not a disease. Don\u2019t try to cure us.
