Hi! My name is Zara. I am a 5th grader in Beaconhouse School System.
Okay, so when you read the title you might be like “Zara stop overreacting, it must be
nothing.” Well wait until you hear the actual trauma I am actually talking about.
It was after iftar on a random Tuesday.
I was completely zoned out on the couch, holding my iPad like it was the only way I
survived 90% of the day. That’s when I overheard my mom and sister’s conversation.
We have online classes. Thank god my iPad has my school email because I opened
Google Classroom and saw the notification:
“Subject: Temporary Shift to Online Classes
Dear Students,
Please note that classes from Pre-Nursery to Grade 7 and Grade 9C will shift to
online mode starting Tuesday, 10th March, until Tuesday, 31st March 2026.”
My mind just shut down.
That message felt like the world had ended. Like how could they do this to me? How
would I manage with two other siblings that have the same timings as me? Two
rooms, three kids. How would I surviveeee!!!!
Then I realized—of course—there is a spare room downstairs I could use.
BUT.
My sister would then take the room we shared, which has all my stuff. Plus she has
an advantage. Her class starts first, so while I’m still changing she can start her class
and then I can’t disturb her. OMG!!! This is such a nightmare.
Well, let’s see how I survive a month without school. Okay not really a month, but we don’t care because it will feel like a billion trillion years.
Please send help!!
