Reading gives knowledge and opens up worlds of imagination!
Engaging students in reading and talking about what they are reading, develops deeper comprehension skills and higher-level critical thinking skills. JTC Lower Primary vehemently emphasizes on reading storybooks as this powerful tool affects students’ behavior and manner positively. Lower Primary section invited a progressive and well-recognized story writer and illustrator Ms. Maria Riaz who was honoured with Saadqain Pride of Performance and nominated for the UBL Literary Award. She carried out story telling sessions with students of grades I & II. Focusing on illustrations, she narrated a story ‘Anokha Baagh’ to grade I and ‘Khaabon ki Basti’ was unfolded to grade II. At the end of the sessions, she inquired relevant questions to gauge their understanding and made them connected with the text. It was an outstanding story telling sessions and the excitement and involvement of the students was commendable.
