Beaconhouse always strives to promote creativity, confidence and collaboration among students. JTC Lower Primary organized an English Week and planned enjoyable and intriguing activities to hone students’ communicative, reading and writing skills. The week commenced with ‘Roar Aloud’ activity which was aimed to develop public speaking skills in students. They were provided an opportunity to deliver their speech confidently in front of the audience.

Good handwriting contributes to fluent reading and presents a positive image. In order to improve students’ handwriting and to create a competitive environment, a House-wise Handwriting Competition was organized. Book Nook also added spice to the event. It was planned to enhance students’ interest in reading. They were dressed up in their favourite characters and shared their views about the characters. Students were encouraged to read the excerpts from their favourite books. Their colourful costumes presented beautiful scenarios of fairy tales and sprinkled shimmery hues to the school environment.

Spelling and reading are interlinked and not only increase students’ vocabulary but also develop overall literacy. The week ended up with a Spelling Bee competition to bring accuracy in students’ spellings.

Emphasizing on multiple areas of linguistic proficiency, English week effectively contributed to improve students’ speaking, reading and writing skills and provided a platform where students showcased best of their abilities and emerged as confident speakers and fluent readers.
