Hot seating is a great way of helping students explore and get a deeper understanding of any profession. It encourages them to ask engaging and challenging questions to any person from a particular profession. Furthermore, it requires students to think fast to get a relevant and developed answer.
We, at Nursery level, arranged a hot seating session with parents who belonged to different professions. Our aim was to motivate our inquisitive learners to ask them engaging questions about their profession to be aware of various roles and responsibilities they perform. Our honorable guests included a lawyer and a doctor
who gracefully dressed in their respective uniforms to give our little students a gesture as if the character steps out for a while, sits in an appointed chair (the hot seat) and was open to questioning by the students. They explained their job description and answered the queries of our little learners well. They explained students the perceptions of fairness, morals and ethics involved in professionalism. Some were excited, others were enthusiastic to learn new things. Beaconites thoroughly enjoyed the session and participated in discussions with great energy. It was proved to be an engaging and informative session for students that we have decided to invite more guests from various professions to come and make students aware of their nature of work and responsibilities.
