A national language is one of the most distinctive features of the identity, history, and culture of any nation. It is a widely used medium of communication across a country. We at North Nazimabad Middle, acknowledge the irrefutable importance of our national language, Urdu.
To promote students’ interest in learning the history of Urdu, accustom them with its use and embedding language-based activities alongside the prescribed curriculum; Urdu Play was organized for students of Grades VI, VII and VIII. The highlight of the play was that parents were also invited to this light-hearted entertainment.
The Urdu play was an adaptation of “Chacha Chahkkan Aur Khatti Meethi Yaadein”, written by renowned writer Imtiaz Ali Taj. Being a humorous play, with rich vocabulary, it offered students’ auditory and kinesthetic expression and an opportunity to experience the different aspects of Dramatics, e.g. stage set up, dialogue delivery and performance.

It was our dedicated teachers who came up with new and exciting ideas to recreate the existing plot yet maintain the balance in the setting, characters and transitions within a story.
The play was a kaleidoscope of various colourful characters like ‘Jedi, Qutbuddin Qabacha, Sona Chandi, Allan Nannha and our all-time Rambo- the cockroach killer!’. Students’ amusing performance had not only engaged children but parents also.

The song ‘Meray bachpan ke din was a show stopper!’ It brought tears to many parents’ eyes as they reminisced their childhood. The feedback that parents had given was overwhelming. They commended the effort put in by teachers to orchestrate such an entertaining play.
