The importance of sports encompasses more than just the benefit of physical activity. It helps in enhancing self-esteem and mental alertness among students. Also, it teaches punctuality, discipline, and teamwork.
Keeping this in mind, Beaconhouse School System, North Nazimabad Campus organized an Inter House Cricket Tournament for the students of classes VIII on the premises of the school.
The acme feat started off with a series of trial matches between different houses of the campus for merit-based selection of the teams. Captains of each house along with their coaches carefully gauged the performances of the players and modeled their teams judiciously.
Chit picking activity decided round matches to be played between Red Tigers and Blue Panthers along with a match between Green Leopards and Yellow Jaguars. After watching some sensational catches and startling bowling performances it was decided that the Final match will be played between Green Leopards and Blue Jaguars.
On the Big Day, all were decked up to prove their mettle. Green Leopards won the toss and decided to ball first. The enthusiastic crowd experienced a thrilling performance with the two teams exhibiting their best in a limited five-over match. The blue team displayed excellent batting skills and set a target of 26 runs. After a nail-biting encounter 3 runs were required by the green team on the last ball to win but unfortunately it was a miss. This took a dramatic turning as the blue team thought they won however this ball was considered to be a wide ball and the green team scored 2 more runs to level the scores up.
The final match exhibited sportsmanship from both the teams with victory falling into the lap of Blue house, as decided by the results of a super overplayed in the end.
Truly, it was a magnificent, nail-biting, and well-deserved win. While the winners were cheered, the efforts of the runners-up were equally appreciated. Both the teams presented an impressive show.
The event was closed by a certificate distribution ceremony to appreciate the student’s effort.
