Algebra Tiles are mathematical manipulatives that can help develop students’ understanding and confidence with algebra, at many different levels.
Expansion and simplification of quadratic expressions was made easier by using Algebra tiles. Algebra tiles are square and rectangular shaped tiles that represent numbers and variables. Algebra tiles provided a more visual way to solve the expressions.
Students of Grade 8 learnt how to use Algebra tiles to model and expand Quadratic Expressions through a multiplication frame. They used different colours to show positive and negative variables.
