“In a global world, we should all be citizens. Dignity has no nationality”
Tania Bruguera
The third Wednesday of October recognizes Global Dignity Day. The initiative educates and inspires youth to help them better understand their self-worth. The day also taps into the values of kindness, understanding, tolerance, and compassion. Dignity as the state or quality of being worthy of honour and respect.
We at Beaconhouse NNPI, believe that following principles should be inculcated in our young Beaconites.
Dignity and respect in the classroom
- treat each other with dignity and respect.
- listen to each other’s’ points of view, recognising that there may be disagreement.
- keep discussion and comments on the topic, and off the people.
- do not use offensive language, sarcasm, or raised voices.
Our enthusiastic learners from classes I and II prepared dignity messages and wrote pledges. They also made and wore head bands and showed the world that acceptance, tolerance, respect, equality and honour are the key skills in order to live happily. Their pledges indicated that they will practice all those things that were written on their head bands.
Grade III – VII students wrote descriptions on the importance of what dignity means to them and how do they and practice them in their daily lives.
