Looking back at the past and learning about the ancient civilizations is among few of the exotic attractions our Beaconites find at NNPII.

This time the Project Based Learning was carried out on The Indus Valley Civilisation which was discovered in the early 1900s by a British archaeologist named John Marshall.

Students of Grade V and VI enthusiastically participated in the activity about the topic ‘Indus Valley Civilization’ in Social Studies.

To illustrate the architecture of the city, little historians used empty shoe boxes and thermocol sheets.

By building houses, baths, granaries, and drainage systems, they portrayed the lifestyle of the Indus valley people.

Stones, beads, and shells were used to make bracelets and necklaces. Models of toys and tools were also made with the help of clay and plaster of Paris.

Little historians also designed posters to highlight the importance of the writing system, religion, professions etc in the life of the people of Indus Valley.

Students also created seals and pots with clay. For that purpose a ‘Potter’s wheel’ was arranged at school. Students played with the clay and designed a variety of pots. They also wrote inscriptions on seals with the help of toothpicks and illustrated pictures with stencils.

It was a great learning experience for the students of Grade Vs and VIs, as they gained a better understanding of Indus Valley life.
