Morning Assemblies provide students opportunities to build interest in extra curricular activities, develop core values, learning social discipline, building stage confidence and polish their public speaking skills.
Students learn to observe proper decorum and solemnity in the Morning Assemblies. Qualities like politeness, courtesy of speech and good conduct are also encouraged. All students dress up neatly in full school uniform.
In the spirit of fostering essential life skills, today our Grade 1-Blue students organized a morning assembly with a twist – they took on the mantle of young leaders to discuss the 7th habit, “Sharpen the Saw,” from Stephen R. Covey’s renowned book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” This special assembly was not only informative but also engaging and heartwarming.
The assembly began with an air of tranquility as the young Grade 1-Blue student started the assembly with the recitation of Surat Qadar. What followed was a thoughtful English translation of Surat Qadar, allowing their peers to understand the profound message of this surah.
In a unique and interactive segment, the Grade 1 students came in pairs to share with each other how they “sharpen their saws.” This metaphorical concept, as introduced by Covey, emphasizes the importance of taking care of oneself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The students shared simple yet meaningful practices like reading books, spending time with family, playing outdoors, exercising, sleeping well, drinking lots of water, being kind with each other, making new friends and praying. It was heartening to see these young minds grasp the significance of self-care and balance.
The assembly reached its crescendo with a beautiful song performance. The lyrics of “Sharpen the Saw” echoed the message of balance and self-renewal. The melodious voices of the Grade 1 students filled the hall, reminding everyone that taking care of oneself is essential for personal growth and overall well-being.
To ensure that the message of “Sharpen the Saw” resonated with everyone, the assembly concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session. The students displayed their understanding of the concept and responded to queries from their peers and teachers with enthusiasm and confidence.
The Grade 1 morning assembly on the 7th habit, “Sharpen the Saw,” left a profound impact on the students. It showcased the potential of young leaders to impart important life lessons. The assembly served as a reminder that even at a tender age, we can learn to balance our lives, take care of ourselves, and inspire others to do the same.
As we move forward in our educational journey, let’s carry with us the valuable lessons from this assembly. May we all remember the importance of “sharpening the saw” in our lives, finding harmony in our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. These Grade 1 students have shown us that by nurturing ourselves, we become better equipped to positively impact the world around us.
