Grade 1-Yellow students organized a morning assembly on 25th September, Monday that celebrated a valuable life lesson from Stephen R. Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” The focus of this assembly was the 5th habit, Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood.

The students began with the recitation and translation of Surat Ikhlas, creating an ambiance of reverence and reflection. It was heartwarming to see these young students engaging in such a spiritual and serene manner. To ensure everyone understood the profound message, the students thoughtfully provided an English translation, connecting their peers to the wisdom contained in these verses.

The focal point of the assembly was the exploration of the 5th habit: “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood.” The Grade 1-Yellow students explained that this habit emphasizes the importance of listening attentively to others before expressing our own thoughts and opinions. They shared examples from their daily lives, illustrating how practicing this habit can lead to better communication, fewer misunderstandings, and stronger relationships.

As the assembly neared its conclusion, our young Grade 1 students delivered a heartwarming song performance. The lyrics conveyed the message of empathy, understanding, and the beauty of listening to one another. The melody and harmony of their voices left a lasting impression.

To ensure that the message of the 5th habit truly sank in, the assembly concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. The students displayed their understanding of the concept and answered queries from their peers.

It was an enriching and informative event. May we all remember the power of listening, understanding, and seeking to understand others before seeking to be understood. These Grade 1 students have shown us that by practicing this habit, we can foster better relationships and create a more harmonious and connected world.
