Listening to Learn: EYS Team Unlocks the Power of Active Listening!
On Friday, 8th August 2025, the Early Years Section (EYS) team of Beaconhouse Civil Lines Campus came together for an exciting and highly interactive training session “Developing Listening Skills in EYS with Hands-on Activities” — led by our dynamic Instructional Coach, Ms. Isma Irfan.
From the very first moment, the room was buzzing with energy! Teachers weren’t just hearing about strategies, they were experiencing them. Ms. Isma blended theory with fun, hands-on activities that demonstrated how active listening can be nurtured in even the youngest learners.
Why Listening Skills Matter in EYS
Listening is more than just hearing words, it’s the foundation of language, comprehension and communication. Strong listening skills help children:
Follow instructions with confidence
- Engage more deeply in learning activities
- Build empathy by understanding others
- Strengthen focus and attention span
- A Team That Learns Together, Grows Together
From Lead Teachers to Assistant Teachers and Teacher Aides, the entire EYS family participated wholeheartedly. Activities included role-plays, interactive games and practical classroom scenarios, making the learning both relevant and exciting. There was laughter, discussion and plenty of “aha!” moments as strategies took shape.

By the end of the session, the team wasn’t just leaving with notes, they were leaving with a plan. Fresh, ready-to-implement ideas are now set to make their way into our classrooms, where every listening moment will count.
As one teacher put it:
> “Today reminded us that good teaching begins with good listening and that includes listening to our students.”
With this shared learning experience, the EYS team is ready to transform listening into a joyful, purposeful skill that will serve our young learners for years to come.
