Students Explore Urban Challenges in an Engaging Session with the Traffic Police
Bridging Classrooms with City Streets
As part of the Grade VIII E SUPER Project titled “Urban Vision,” our students had the unique opportunity to participate in a compelling session led by Mr. Umer Jahangir from the Traffic Police Department. This interactive discussion explored the pressing issues of urbanisation and daily commuting—challenges that directly affect millions across the globe and are increasingly relevant in our growing cities.
Real Voices, Real Issues
Mr. Umer drew from real-life field experiences to help students understand the practical impact of traffic congestion, the importance of road safety, infrastructure limitations, and the environmental consequences of increased vehicle usage. His first-hand insights gave the students a grounded view of the urban landscape, far beyond what any textbook could provide.
A Session Full of Curiosity and Creativity
What truly set this session apart was the level of student engagement. With thought-provoking questions and insightful observations, students demonstrated a deep understanding of the topic. They proposed smart, actionable solutions such as:
• Upgrading public transportation systems
• Developing dedicated cycling lanes
• Launching road safety awareness campaigns
• Implementing sustainable urban planning practices
Their proactive approach was highly appreciated by Mr. Umer, who praised their awareness and critical thinking skills.
Empowering Change Through Education
The Urban Vision project continues to be more than just a school assignment—it is a transformational experience. It connects academic concepts to real-world challenges, encouraging students to become conscious citizens and innovative thinkers. Through projects like this, we aim to nurture future leaders who don’t just understand the issues—they take part in solving them.
