Deposits That Matter: Building Hearts Before Academics

” People may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

In Grade 5 something truly beautiful is unfolding. 🌟 Not just lessons from textbooks—but lessons of the heart.
This week, our students focused on strengthening their Emotional Bank Accounts, a powerful concept from The Leader in Me inspired by The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. Instead of making withdrawals through misunderstandings or impatience, they consciously chose to make deposits—acts of kindness, respect, empathy, and responsibility.
And what a transformation it created. ✨
Through encouraging words, cooperative teamwork, and thoughtful actions, students nurtured trust and strengthened friendships. A simple “You can do it!” 🙌 A patient explanation to a classmate. A respectful disagreement handled maturely. These small but powerful moments quietly shaped a classroom environment filled with positivity, safety, and belonging.
What makes this even more special is that these actions were not prompted by reward—but by awareness. Our students understood that every interaction either builds or weakens relationships. So they chose to build. 💛
The result?
A classroom where laughter feels lighter, collaboration feels stronger, and every child feels seen and valued. 🌈
We are incredibly proud of Grade 5 Orange for living these values daily. They are proving that leadership is not about titles—it is about choices. And when young minds choose kindness consistently, they don’t just grow academically—they grow emotionally and socially too.
Because in the end, education is not only about filling minds…
It is about shaping hearts. ✨
