Hi everyone! Guess what happened last Tuesday? It was the weirdest, funniest day ever at our school playground!
It started like any other recess. The sun was super shiny, and all my friends were zooming around. I was about to go down the big slide, but then something felt… bouncy. Like a giant marshmallow!
I looked down, and the ground, where the wood chips usually are, was moving! It was like the whole playground was made of jelly! The swings started to swing by themselves, gently, like they were saying hello to the sky. And the climbing frame? It wiggled like a happy snake!
My friend Ayesha, who is super brave, laughed and tried to walk on it. WOBBLE! She almost fell, but giggled instead. It was hard to walk normally. We had to take big, slow steps, like astronauts on the moon.
The seesaw went up and down, up and down, even with nobody on it! It looked like it was playing by itself.
“Umair, look!” yelled my friend Affan as trying to climb the wobbly rock wall, and every time he grabbed a rock, it shook! He looked like he was dancing with the wall.
Our teacher, came out with a very surprised face. “Oh my goodness!” she said, trying not to laugh. Even she had to hold onto the fence to keep from wobbling. She told us to sit on the benches, which thankfully weren’t wobbly at all.
We watched the playground wobble and jiggle for a whole ten minutes. It was like a giant, soft monster was trying to wake up from under the ground. We imagined it was a friendly monster, just wanting to play.
Then, just as suddenly as it started, the wobbling stopped. The ground became firm again. The swings hung still. The climbing frame stood straight. The seesaw was still. It was like magic!
My teacher said maybe it was just our imaginations playing tricks on us, but I know it wasn’t! We all felt it. Maybe the playground just needed a little dance party that day.
Now, every time I go to recess, I give the ground a little tap, just in case the friendly wobbly monster wants to come out and play again! It was the best, wobbliest recess ever!
