From Reflection to Recognition: A Teacher’s Journey of Growth and Gratitude by Kiran Jawed

This year’s Developing Reflective Practitioner (DRP) course was a proud milestone for me, not just because of the results, but because of the journey we took together.

Stepping into the role of a trainer was a big shift. Training students is one thing, but guiding fellow educators across different levels brought new challenges and greater responsibility. The first cohort was my learning ground. By the time the second cohort began, I was more prepared, more confident, and ready to grow with my participants.

And then came Day 1 of the second cohort, a fresh beginning with an incredible group of candidates who brought energy, curiosity, and a genuine desire to grow. From Day 1 to Day 5, each day was filled with meaningful conversations, insightful reflections, and moments of deep learning for them and for me.

After thorough assignment checking, observations, and evaluations, the results spoke volumes. Alhamdulillah, most participants achieved Distinctions, a testament to their dedication and growth. My heart filled with pride as a trainer.

What made the moment even more special was the performance of our own Beaconhouse Jinnah Campus teachers. A huge shout-out and heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Hadiya Hasham, Ms. Munira Hyder, Ms. Erum Masood and Ms. Khadija Aziz, Congratulations to all and specially the Distinction holders. A proud moment for all of us.

But beyond grades and recognition, what truly mattered was implementation. Seeing the reflection of the DRP course in real classrooms, in students’ learning, in parents’ appreciation, in the changed approach of teachers, that was the real achievement. When theory becomes practice, and practice brings impact, that’s when you know you’ve done something meaningful.

This isn’t just a win for the participants. It’s an achievement for Beaconhouse Jinnah Campus for the culture of professional development we’re building, for the commitment we share to reflective teaching, and for the unwavering support of leadership that makes it all possible. The ones who guided me, trained me, believed in me, and placed their trust in my abilities. I am forever grateful.

Let’s keep growing, reflecting, and celebrating together.

With pride and passion,
Kiran Jawed
