Nishan-e-Haider, which translates to “Emblem of the Lion,” is Pakistan’s highest military honor, awarded to members of the armed forces who demonstrate extraordinary bravery in the face of the enemy. This prestigious award is named after Ali ibn Abi Talib, the fourth Caliph of Islam, known for his unparalleled courage and valor. Since its establishment in 1957, Nishan-e-Haider has been awarded to only 11 recipients, all of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
