☀️ Staying Safe in the Summer Heat

Karachi gets very hot in the summer, and this year the heatwave is even stronger. The sun feels like fire, and it becomes hard to go outside. In such weather, it’s very important for us and our families to stay hydrated and healthy. We should drink lots of water, eat juicy fruits like watermelon and oranges, and avoid playing outside during peak sunny hours.

To stay cool at home, we can wear light cotton clothes, use fans, and stay in shady places. When going out, we should wear caps or carry umbrellas. I also keep a water bottle with me all the time. My parents remind me to drink water even if I’m not feeling thirsty, because our body loses water through sweat in summer.

But while we are staying cool, we must also remember those who don’t have that choice—like the traffic police, delivery riders, and laborers working on the roads inthe heat. They don’t get to sit under fans or drink water whenever they want. I feel bad when I see them sweating and still doing their job. That’s why my family sometimes keeps extra cold water bottles in the car to give to them. Even a small bottle of water or a kind word can mean a lot to someone working in the sun.

We should all learn to show empathy—which means understanding how others feel and helping them. This summer, let’s not only take care of ourselves but also be kind to those around us who are affected by the heat. Helping someone in the heat is not just good manners, it’s being a good human being. Stay cool, stay kind, and let’s all beat the heat together!
