A Melodic Journey on the BSS Teacher Idol Stage by Kiran Jawed

BSS Teacher Idol is an annual celebration of hidden talent, one that brings music, laughter, and a lot of courage to the spotlight. It happens every year, and I’ve always enjoyed watching it from the sidelines, cheering on the brave hearts who take the stage.

But this year was a bit different for me..

This year, I was not just a spectator, I was a performer. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and embrace a side of me that’s usually tucked away in quiet corners or, more accurately, in the echo of bathroom tiles.

They say everyone has a hidden talent and sometimes all you need is a little push and a platform. For me, that platform was Teacher Idol 2024–25. Encouraged by kind words and compliments about my voice, I signed up to perform with six fellow teachers each of us taking that bold step into the spotlight.

Performing live on stage is never easy, but doing so in front of our own students as the audience? That raised the stakes! Our hands trembled, voices shook but our hearts were full.

I hope our neighbours survived the rehearsals! 😄

Like every competition, this one had a winner. And I’m thrilled to share that our very own Ms. Sana Naz, a powerhouse of talent, won first position and is now headed to the next round. I’m so proud of her and rooting for her all the way!

Teacher Idol is more than just a singing contest. It’s a reminder that teachers are more than lesson plans and grading sheets, we are dreamers, artists, and creators too. It’s a beautiful break from routine, a chance to breathe, to laugh, and to let our passions speak.

To my fellow performers, thank you for being part of this brave and beautiful experience. And to the teachers who are still hiding their talents, just wait. Your stage is coming!

With music in my heart and memories that will always sing,
Kiran Jawed
