Cleaning Day: Small Hands, Big Change! By Bareera Fatima-Class V A

When our teacher walked into the classroom on Friday morning and announced that it was officially “Cleaning Day,” a huge wave of excitement rushed through our Grade 5 class at Beaconhouse! Cleaning might sound like a boring chore to some, but at our school, turning responsibility into a fun group activity is what we do best.

We quickly divided ourselves into teams, each assigned to a different area of the classroom. My team was responsible for cleaning our individual study desks and chairs. We pulled out all our stationery boxes, notebooks, and art supplies, making sure everything was organized properly. It was amazing and a little funny to see how many lost eraser tops, misplaced colored pencils, and stray sticky notes had accumulated in the corners of our desks over the past few weeks! Wiping down the tabletop surfaces until they were completely dust-free made our learning space feel fresh, bright, and brand new.

Once our classroom was spotless, we stepped outside to help clean the hallway and shared activity areas. Working together with our friends while listening to light music played by our teacher made the time fly by so quickly. We realized that keeping our school environment clean isn’t just about sweeping dirt; it’s about taking pride in the space where we learn, grow, and create memories every single day.

By the time the final bell rang, our classroom looked incredible. Every desk was neat, every floor tile was shiny, and the whole room smelled refreshed. Our teacher gave us all a huge round of applause for our hard work and team spirit. Cleaning Day taught us that when everyone pitches in together, even big tasks become easy and fun. I can’t wait for our next class activity at Beaconhouse!
