The reason behind launching the STOP THE ROT – Be the Chainbreaker program was to create a campaign wherein students would actually experience the effects of negative talk and actions and understand why one should ‘be kind’ instead of simply being asked to do so.

The campaign is simple yet meaningful. The students take two tomatoes with them to school, and keep these in zip lock bags inside their school bags for four weeks. Whenever they come across, or experience anything negative, they record it on paper. Meanwhile , these tomatoes will will gradually spoil emitting a bad odor.

After a laps of few days only a few days, the fruits will show signs of decay. This observation enables students to stop and think. It is a hands-on lesson that helps students understand that any form of rudeness, however trivial it may seem, leaves behind an indelible mark not only on others but also on themselves. The combination of the smell, the image, the experience, everything about it creates a lesson which no lecture can deliver.

The idea behind this scenario–STOP THE ROT campaign is a practical one. Students learn the importance of words and actions. They learn about the danger posed by negativity when practiced through actions. They are taught the power of speaking out or doing something to stop the cycle of malice.

This campaign will finally culminate on 30th April, 2026. The day will be marked by an All School Assembly, conducted by the senior students; at the assembly, students will take an oath, get STOP THE ROT badges, and share their reflections. These activities will demonstrate to parents and the entire school community the positive effect of the experiment.

We, at Beaconhouse are pleased to witness not only the practice of kindness among our students, but also their reflection upon and sharing of it. STOP THE ROT is not just a task but rather a constant reminder that we all have the power to make a difference and become chain breakers for good by becoming more aware and taking action.
#BeKind #BeTheChainbreaker #StopTheRot #ThinkBeforeYouShare #PostWisely

In Beaconhouse School System, our aim is not only to impart knowledge through books and tests; we aim at producing… Continue reading STOP THE ROT – Be the Chainbreaker: Learning Kindness the Hands-On Way

[1

post-27","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","entry
["GET
