Do you think the dream of Allama Iqbal is lost somewhere? Do you think that the present day Pakistan is in no way near to the one that the Muslims of the subcontinent originally aimed for? Well, in order to settle this question, an Urdu mubahisa event was organized by Gulshan Middle-1. This event not only gave the students a platform to present their ideas, arguments and debates but also polished the art of presenting opposing points of view in them.
In this event, students presented their points in favour and against the topic, ”Iqbal ka khuwab Pakistan, kahin kho gaya hai”. Students not only presented their speeches but also showcased their argumentative skills which aimed at representing their creativity. Along with the students, who won the heart of the audience, faculty members including Sir Talha Saleem and an alumnus of GMBK-1, Mr. Yousuf Tahir also participated in the debates and presented their opinions and thoughts via their provoking speeches which forced our audience to give them a huge round of applause. It was surely a tough task for the judges to decide the winners of the competition because of the inspiring speeches that each candidate presented. As judges, along with the senior Urdu faculty members, a former senior teacher; Ms Mussarat Saleem and an alumni Rabeea Abidi were also present. In the end, our headmistress, Miss Maliha Noman was called upon the stage to decide which team had won and backed by the audience’s support she also spoke in favour of the team that disagreed with the topic. Thus it was established that Allama Iqbal’s dream hasn’t been lost anywhere; it is us who are the dream, the future of this country and our children will definitely take our country to greater heights, InshaAllah!
All the guests were then presented with a token of gratitude and participants along with the winners of the event were awarded with appreciation certificates which really enhanced their morale and confidence.
