“Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.” — John Boswell

As the winter season came to its fullest and the year 2021 was about to come to an end, Beaconhouse Gulshan Middle-1 set up a Winter Gala on the 24th of December for both; the students and the staff to enjoy and celebrate.

Students gathered in the ground and were entertained by various activities which included songs and stand-up comedy, as well as a skit based on how the Muslims suffered persecution under British rule and how Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah helped them. There were debates and speeches all with one question in mind, “Is today’s Pakistan, Quaid’s Pakistan?” After that our beloved headmistress Miss Maliha Noman came up on the stage and spoke about how we all need to be tolerant towards different beliefs and values and share happiness to prosper as a nation. The support staff was brought up on the stage to cut a Christmas cake with the jolly mascot of Christmas, Santa! Then the students went back to their classes to have fun with their classmates and play some games. Then each level was one by one called out to the ground to play musical chairs and buy food from the stalls. There were stalls of gol guppay, chaat, soup, biryani, shawarma, popcorn, and Broadway pizza. When it was nearly home time, the whole school came out in the ground and had fun like never before; students thoroughly enjoyed photography, singing, and dancing. In the end, students reluctantly said goodbye to each other as the gala came to an end.

This gala represented many things such as the end of mid-term examinations, spreading of diversity through respecting those who celebrate Christmas, a celebration to make memories but most of all, to celebrate the end of the year and Quaid-e-Azam day. It was a very successful event and students had lots of fun. A wonderful way to say goodbye to 2021 and hello to 2022.

Happy New Year!
