Finding Solitude on a Solo Journey to Dubai

By Ms. Sana Amin, Grade 3 English Teacher

Three years back, I set out on a solo trip to Dubai—a city of dazzling skyscrapers, cultural treasures, and endless energy. While I enjoyed its sights, what made the journey truly special were the lessons of solitude and self-growth I discovered along the way.

“Solitude did not mean loneliness—it meant listening to my own thoughts without distractions.”

Traveling alone taught me to be present. Away from the noise, I began to notice little details—the sparkle of the city lights, the aroma of Arabic coffee, the calmness of the desert. Life teaches us that beauty lies in these small, often unnoticed moments.

“Being present in the moment helps us see beauty in the simplest of details.”

The trip also strengthened my self-reliance. Navigating the metro, making independent choices, and stepping out of my comfort zone reminded me that confidence grows when we trust ourselves. Life, too, often places us in unfamiliar situations so we can discover our own strength.

“Stepping out of our comfort zone makes us discover our true strength.”

Most importantly, solitude gave me clarity. As teachers and professionals, our days are filled with responsibilities. Yet, life teaches us to pause, reflect, and realign with our inner voice. This reflection is not a luxury—it is what keeps our minds and hearts balanced.

“Reflection is not a luxury—it is fuel for the mind and soul.”

Returning from Dubai, I realized that the biggest souvenirs I brought back were not photographs, but lessons: to value solitude, to trust my own strength, and to slow down enough to listen to life’s quiet teachings.

✨ “Dubai gave me memories, but solitude gave me wisdom.”
