The Power of Your Words: The Way You Speak and Talk About Others Creates Lasting Impact
By: Ms. Sadia Adeel

My name is Ms. Sadia Adeel, and I truly believe that the way we speak to others reflects who we are. Our words have power. They can build confidence, spread positivity, and bring people together, or they can hurt, discourage, and divide. Every word we speak carries energy, and that energy shapes the environment around us.
The tone we use and the way we communicate tell a lot about our character. A gentle voice, respectful language, and kind expressions show empathy and understanding. Even during disagreements, a calm and polite manner can turn conflict into conversation. When we speak thoughtfully, people remember not just what we said, but how we made them feel. A Real-Life Experience When I was 14 years old, I had an experience that taught me the true value of kindness and
patience. I was waiting for the lift in my apartment building, and when it arrived, I opened the door. A man who lived on the top floor was inside. He shouted angrily at me, saying, “Why do you people keep calling the lift again and again?” He wanted to go downstairs, and I had unknowingly disturbed his ride. Instead of reacting with anger, I simply said, “I’m sorry that you had to wait so long.” Then I
closed the door and let him go. That evening, something unexpected happened — the same man sent me a bouquet and a cake through his wife as an apology for shouting at me. That moment taught me a lifelong lesson: tolerance and kindness always leave a positive mark on others. Our calm reaction can turn anger into respect and misunderstanding into friendship. This story is my humble message to the young generation — never underestimate the power of gentle words and patience. A kind word can brighten someone’s day. A sincere compliment can motivate a friend, student, or colleague to do even better. When we use our words to encourage and uplift others, we create an atmosphere of support and confidence. It doesn’t take much — a simple “Well done,” “I’m proud of you,” or “You did great” can make someone’s heart smile. Good communication not only builds strong relationships but also helps create a peaceful and caring community. Let’s choose our words wisely — with kindness, respect, and love — because what we say leaves a lasting impact on hearts and minds. Speak gently, think positively, and let your words be a source of light for others.
