A Special Bond or Routine I Share with My Child
One of the most special bonds I share with my child, Zohaan, is built through our bedtime and morning routines. As a full-time working mother, managing everything perfectly can often be challenging. My day usually involves university responsibilities and household chores. However, I always ensure that
these two routines are never skipped because I believe they play a crucial role in my child’s emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
Every night, when Zohaan goes to bed, I spend about 30 minutes of quality, undistracted time with him. This is our peaceful moment together, away from distractions and the chaos of the day. We talk about how his day went, what made him happy, what bothered him, and anything he wants to share. Sometimes we read a story, do a fun activity, or simply hug and cuddle. This bedtime routine helps him feel heard, loved, and emotionally safe. It also helps him relax, reduce stress, and sleep more peacefully. Good sleep is vital for children because it supports brain development, memory, learning, emotional regulation, and physical growth.
Our morning routine is just as important and meaningful. When I wake Zohaan, I do it with love, warmth, and cuddles. I try to keep mornings calm, positive, and free from unnecessary rushing or stress. Before he leaves for school, I want him to feel happy, confident, and emotionally prepared for the day. I also make sure he eats a healthy breakfast, as a nutritious start provides energy, enhances concentration, supports learning, and helps him stay active at school.
For me, these routines are more than just everyday habits. They are my way of staying connected with Zohaan despite my busy schedule. Through these small but meaningful moments, he learns that he is loved, valued, and safe. I believe that when a child sleeps peacefully and wakes up with love, it sets a positive tone for the rest of the day and helps build a happier, healthier childhood.
