Declamation Contest
“Created man, and taught him eloquence.”
Ayah 3-4 (Surah Al- Rahman)
God Almighty created and blessed us with the skill of utterance, so we can communicate eloquently our dreams and desires, fears and fantasies, pleasures and problems with one another. The English Literary Club of Beaconhouse Cambridge Campus Gulshan decided to organize a declamation contest to provide an exciting opportunity to our young promising speakers in order to demonstrate their public speaking skills following the footprints of Pericles. The preliminary round was conducted within classrooms and the students who qualified, proceeded to the next phase i.e. the Elimination Round.

The contestants also attended a virtual briefing session so as to be familiar with the ins and outs of the art of public speaking and the rubrics of the competition. With the help of teachers, contestants chose the speeches of well-known orators and champions and rehearsed well. After this Elimination Round there came up nine finalists:
Darawar Sanam (X-F), Muniza Noor (X-F), Mustafa Moonis (X-P), Naveera Talha (X-E),
Hammad Masood (IX-J), Mariam Shahid IX-O, Awaab Ahmed (IX-P)
Syeda Fasiha (X-H), Hiba Hassan (X-E)

The final round of the Declamation was arranged along with the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected Students Council members on 19th October, 2021, Thursday at the main ground of the Campus. The program started with the recitation and translation of the Holy Quran. When the finalists appeared on the stage, their performance left the audience spellbound. The confidence, articulation, intonation and gestures of the contenders in addition to carefully-chosen content feasted the ears of the audience and they generously applauded the young orators.
Ms Shahina Ahmed, Ms Sahar Jabeen and Mr Waqar Munawar were the judges. Ms Humaira Shahab (Senior Headmistress) distributed the certificates and prizes among the following position holders:
1st Hiba Hassan
2nd Naveera Talha
3rd Mustafa Moonis Ahmer

This declamation activity not only taught the participants valuable public speaking skills but also motivated other students to come forward and take part in such co-curricular activities that groom the interpersonal skills of the learners.
