Every year, Pakistan observes 6th September as Defence Day. It reminds us of the courage, unity, and sacrifices shown by Pakistanis during the 1965 Pak-India War.

The war began in September 1965 after tensions between Pakistan and India increased, particularly over the Kashmir dispute. On 6th September, Indian forces crossed the international border and attacked areas of Pakistan. Pakistan’s armed forces defended the country with great determination.

The people of Pakistan also played an important role. Citizens stood together, supported the armed forces, and showed remarkable courage during difficult times. Soldiers fought bravely to protect their homeland, while ordinary people helped one another and remained united.

The war continued for several weeks before a ceasefire was agreed on 23rd September 1965. Although the war brought hardship and loss, it also demonstrated the importance of courage, unity, and national responsibility.

Today, 6th September is not simply a day to remember a war. It is a day to honour those who sacrificed for Pakistan and to appreciate the peace and security we have today.

As young Pakistanis, we can pay tribute by becoming responsible citizens, respecting our country, helping others, and working hard for a better Pakistan.
