Whether it’s the quiet hum of students flipping through pages in the library or the excitement of discovering a new story during reading time, books have always been woven into our everyday rhythm.

I’ll be honest: I’m not one of those people who devours novels in a single night. I don’t live in bookstores or carry a book everywhere I go. But reading has still changed me. It’s helped me speak more clearly, understand words better, and even tweak my accent. And once you find a book that clicks, it’s like unlocking a secret door to a world that’s just waiting for you.

I gravitate toward stories that keep me on edge: mysteries, thrillers, suspense. There’s something thrilling about not knowing what’s coming next. And when I need a laugh, I reach for comedy. Because let’s be real: life’s better with a little humor.

Some of my favorites? Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. When I read Harry Potter, I feel like I’m right there at Hogwarts, watching spells light up the castle halls and sneaking through secret passageways. It’s magical in every sense. And Wimpy Kid? That’s my comfort read. Greg’s awkward adventures and hilarious complaints always make me laugh out loud.

But books aren’t just entertainment. They’re escape. They’re comfort. They’re a way to step out of your own world and into someone else’s shoes, even if just for a little while.

That’s why I love our library at Beaconhouse Kohsar. It’s not just a room, it’s a sanctuary. It’s where students find stories that speak to them, characters they relate to, and ideas that spark something new. Whether you’re curled up in a corner with a fantasy novel or flipping through a science book filled with fun facts, every page adds something to who you are.

So here’s my little reminder: keep reading.

Let books surprise you, teach you and make you laugh. Because sometimes, the best adventures don’t start with a suitcase, they start with a story.

By Inaya Qadri At Beaconhouse Kohsar Campus, books aren’t just stacked on shelves, they’re part of our heartbeat.
