The Senior School celebrated Literacy Week with remarkable energy, creativity, and enthusiasm. This year’s theme focused on bringing literature to life, and students truly embraced the idea by stepping into the shoes of some of the most iconic writers and characters from English and Urdu literature. The event featured four interactive literary stations, each dedicated to a different writer, giving students a unique opportunity to explore stories, personalities, and writing styles in an immersive way.

Exploring English Literature Through Role Play

Two stations highlighted celebrated English authors whose works continue to inspire readers around the world.

1. J.K. Rowling – The Magical World of Harry Potter

At the J.K. Rowling station, students entered a world full of magic and imagination. The station was designed to resemble scenes from the Harry Potter series, instantly drawing students into the atmosphere of Hogwarts. Many students arrived dressed as their favourite characters—Harry, Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore, and even some creative interpretations of magical creatures.
The role plays were lively and engaging. Students reenacted short scenes, showcased magical dialogues, and expressed what they loved about Rowling’s writing. After performing, they participated in mock interviews, speaking as if they were real characters from the wizarding world. Their confidence, accents, and expressions made the entire experience enjoyable for the audience.

2. Sherlock Holmes – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s World of Mystery

The second English station revolved around the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. Students stepped into a Victorian detective setting, complete with magnifying glasses, hats, and props that matched the investigative theme.
Participants portrayed Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson, and other characters from Conan Doyle’s stories. They performed mystery-based role plays, showing strong observation and reasoning skills. During the character interviews, students answered questions in the style of classic detectives, demonstrating wit, sharp thinking, and a deep understanding of the author’s work. The station highlighted the beauty of detective fiction and the importance of logical problem-solving.

Celebrating Urdu Literature With Passion

Just as lively were the two Urdu stations, dedicated to well-known writers who have made significant contributions to Urdu storytelling.

3. Umair Ahmed

At the Umair Ahmed station, students explored themes, characters, and writing styles from his works. They dressed according to the personalities they were representing and performed expressive role plays that reflected the cultural and emotional depth of Urdu literature. Their in-character interviews showcased their understanding of the writer’s ideas and messages.

4. Nazeer Ahmed

The fourth station celebrated another prominent Urdu writer. Students portrayed memorable characters with great enthusiasm, highlighting the richness and diversity of Urdu fiction. From dialogues to expressions, their performances captured the essence of traditional and modern Urdu literature. The character interviews allowed students to speak from the perspective of the author’s creations, adding depth and creativity to the experience.

A Week of Expression, Learning, and Joy

Throughout the week, the school halls were filled with excitement as students moved from one station to another, absorbing new knowledge and engaging with literature in a hands-on way. The combination of costumes, performances, and interviews encouraged students to:

  • build confidence,

  • explore storytelling deeply,

  • appreciate both English and Urdu literature,

  • improve their speaking and expressive skills.

The Literacy Week was not just a celebration of books—it was a celebration of imagination, creativity, and the joy of learning. The students’ active participation and enthusiasm made the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.
