Our KG students had an exciting and interactive day as they strengthened their understanding of digraphs through a specially designed Digraph Track Activity. The goal was simple yet meaningful—help children identify common digraphs and connect them with real-life words and pictures.
🎯 Activity Highlights
🔤 Digraph Track Setup
Teachers created a colourful track featuring popular digraphs such as “th”, “ch”, and “sh”. Each digraph had its own lane, making it easy for students to visually differentiate between them.
🖼️ Picture Matching Game
A set of picture cards—representing words like thumb, chair, shoe, and more—were used to help students associate sounds with objects.
Students eagerly picked a picture card and identified which digraph it belonged to.
🤝 Turn-Taking & Thinking Skills
One by one, children came forward to place their cards in the correct digraph column. This simple yet purposeful task encouraged:
• Sound recognition
• Visual discrimination
• Independent decision-making
• Confidence in phonics skills
🌱 Why This Activity Matters
Digraphs form the foundation of early reading. By engaging learners through a fun, hands-on track game, we make abstract concepts easier to grasp and remember.
Activities like this not only promote literacy skills but also foster teamwork, excitement, and a love for learning.
