Every subject is interesting if taught in a way that students are completely involved in it, so is English.
In English curriculum, each unit of work comprises activities related to each of the four strands of English language teaching. These strands cover the three components of knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
English can be taught by integrating hands-on activities for effective learning. By involving students in the subject/topic enhances and develops speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Hand-on experience enhances their visualizing skills. They become more auditory.
Based on their English reader “Mad About Minibeasts” students of Class I explored and learned about minibeasts. Students were taken outside to explore the minibeast in their school garden with the help of gardener to investigate about their movements and other features. They made notes and drew their pictures.
Then they worked in groups and prepared a report on their selected minibeast.
They presented their reports confidently.
Hands-on activity supported students to learn based on the experience and the environment they were exposed to.
