Before the first bell of the new academic year ever rang, something equally important was already happening across our campus — parents and teachers were sitting down together, face to face, for the very first “hello.”
Our Meet and Greet sessions, held across every level from Toddlers to Class 2, gave families the chance to connect with their child’s entire teaching team before the school year officially began — and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful ways to start the year right.
More Than Just Introductions
It would be easy to think of a Meet and Greet as a simple formality — a quick handshake, a name badge, a “nice to meet you.” But this was so much more than that.
Parents didn’t just meet the class teacher. They sat down with subject teachers and activity teachers too — the people who would be guiding their child through art, movement, music, language, and everything in between. For many families, this was the first time putting a face to a name they’d only probably see later in a diary note or a school app notification, and that small shift made a big difference.
A Two-Way Conversation
What made these sessions truly special wasn’t just the introductions — it was the conversations that followed.
Parents were warmly invited to share their child’s learner profile — the little details that don’t always show up on a form: how their child settles into new situations, what excites them, what makes them anxious, how they best communicate, and what has worked (or hasn’t) in the past. For our Toddler and Pre-Nursery families especially, many of whom were navigating their child’s very first school experience, this was a chance to hand over not just a checklist, but a story.
Teachers, in turn, listened closely — asking questions, taking notes, and reassuring parents that these details truly matter. Because they do. A quiet child who takes time to warm up, a toddler who’s never been away from a caregiver before, a Class 2 student who thrives with extra encouragement — these are the small insights that help teachers plan not just lessons, but genuine, individual care from day one.
Space for Real Concerns
Just as importantly, these sessions created a safe, unhurried space for parents to voice concerns — big or small — before the busyness of the term took over. Whether it was a question about separation anxiety, a specific learning need, or simply “what does a typical day look like?”, parents left knowing they’d been heard, and that there were now several familiar faces they could turn to, not just one.
Setting the Tone for the Year Ahead
Starting a new school year — or starting school for the very first time — can feel like a big leap, for children and parents alike. These Meet and Greet sessions helped soften that leap into something far gentler: a handshake, a shared smile, a five-minute conversation that says, “We see your child. We’re in this together.”
By the time the first official day of school arrived, it wasn’t a room full of strangers walking in — it was familiar faces, warm greetings, and a shared sense of readiness.
