Zainab Rashid of class X-C pens down a heartfelt note personifying mother Earth  :

Dear Earthlings,

The world is fast and quick. We avoid staying back to observe and listen to the crisp autumn leaves fluttering from the high rising trees, crunching under the sole of our shoes. We say we were too busy to heed the woes of the little girl, roaming alone in a street on a chilly night. We say we had better things to do than to stay back and console a sad friend who had just lost their childhood dog, their best friend and their source of happiness. We disregard how crestfallen our teacher is when the grim headmaster scolded her only to take out his own frustration of a hectic meeting.

My dearest earthlings, how can we call ourselves humanity when we fail to preach the true meaning of it? Compassion, love, kindness, empathy and warmth – all these are the antidotes to the maladies caused by loath, hatred, jealousy and frustration. It may hold a speck of significance for you, but it could be life changing for someone else.

Let us learn to let go of all the negative manifestations, and remind ourselves to be the purest versions we could possibly be. Let us not just showcase love in theatres and stories, but in real life too.

Stay back to listen to the crunching leaves, it will bring you warmth. Regardless of whether you can provide any advice or help, listen to the little girl. Sometimes, sadness needs to be contained, and that can be done by speaking and listening. Open the doors of compassion within you – surprise your friend with an album about their dog and pray for his ease in Heaven. The next time you go to school, put aside your bag pack of ego, let empathy and kindness fill you in, and appreciate your teacher’s efforts.

The most euphoric feeling in this world is to love and be loved. Your first task is not to seek love just yet, but merely to seek and take down all the barriers you have built within yourself against it.

Appreciate people, feel their pain, share their happiness and comfort them. It’s really not that hard, you just need to give it a try. Love them, for you will be loved back.

Yours truly,

Mother Earth
