New classes, new teachers, and even a few new faces around the school.

As I looked around my classroom, I noticed a boy I had never seen before. I guessed he was a new student. Soon, our teacher asked everyone if they were new to the school or had been here before. That was when I found out that the boy was a new admission.

Our teacher then gave me a little mission. She asked me to take the new boy on a tour of the school so that he could learn his way around and feel more comfortable.

During break time, I went over to him and said, “Come on! I’ll show you around.”

We started at the school gate and walked towards our classroom. I showed him the school office and then took him to the library. As soon as we entered, he looked around with a confused expression.

“Why is there a library in the school?” he asked.

I was surprised. “Doesn’t your old school have a library?”

He shook his head.

I explained that our school library is a special place where we can read, discover new ideas, learn about interesting topics, and explore books beyond our textbooks. He seemed quite interested after hearing that.

Next, I took him to the art room. I explained that students could come there to work on their artwork, submit their projects, or ask the art teachers for help and guidance. After that, we visited the different labs and other important rooms around the school.

By the end of the tour, I asked him, “So, which place did you like the most?”

Without hesitation, he replied, “The library!”

I smiled and asked him why.

“Because it’s a place where we can study and explore more,” he said.

I was happy to hear that. I told our teacher about his interest in the library, and she decided to let him visit it twice a week to choose and issue books.

It was just a simple school tour, but I think it helped him feel a little more at home. And who knows? Maybe the library will become his favourite place in the whole school!

written by: Muhammad Ayan lashari – 4D

It was the beginning of a brand-new academic year, and everything felt a little different.
