The first day of school always feels the same. The shoes are a little shinier, the backpack is a little heavier, and my heart is a mix of nervousness and excitement. But this year feels different.
This year is about a new me.
Last year, I learned a lot. I learned that procrastinating until the night before a test never works. I learned that staying quiet when I had questions only made things harder. I also learned that comparing myself to others only made me feel small. I am not mad at myself for last year. I am here to become better.
The new me wakes up one hour earlier to review notes instead of scrolling on my phone. The new me asks questions in class, even if my voice shakes. The new me plays the sports I have been too shy to try. The new me is more responsible, kinder, and more focused on my work while still making time to play.
I know I won’t be perfect at everything. There will still be some late assignments and stressful days. But a new school year is like a blank notebook. I get to decide what I write on each page.
This year, I am not waiting for someone to tell me what to do. I am starting to chase my own goals, just like you can chase yours.
