‘Dignity really means that I deserve the best treatment I can receive. And that I have the responsibility to give the best treatment I can to other people.’ -Maya Angelou

Global Dignity Day is celebrated every year in the month of October. It gives us the message that every human being is valuable and every human has inherent worth. Kindergarten-I Campus, Jauhar celebrated Global Dignity Day with great enthusiasm.  Multiple activities were carried out to instill the true meaning of dignity in students.

Keeping parents as our partner in this mission, mothers from KG level were invited to help children understand that every person has dignity irrespective of colour, race, religion and gender. They were asked to draw, paint or sketch to put their thoughts on paper and design a poster with their child. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity.

In collaboration with Kindergarten-I Extension, a campaign was planned to donate pre-loved items to underprivileged children and orphanage. For this purpose, JDC Foundation was invited at the campus, as it is a charitable and nonprofit organization. The little champs from both schools shared gifts, books clothes, and stationery fervently.  Later the students had an interview session with social workers and asked a few questions about the process. Students of both branches were enlightened about empathy by giving back to the community and meanwhile acknowledged their own blessings.

Students with the help of their teachers designed ‘thank you’ cards for the caregivers. Students from Pre Nursery and Nursey had Digni-tea with the caregivers. They shared and had their lunch with them. They had healthy discussion in their PSHE lessons about respecting and recognizing the equal and inalienable rights of all members of humanity. Later, they prepared posters together with their teachers.
