The start of the second term provides a timely opportunity to reflect on priorities and plan intentionally for continued growth. Building on the experiences and learning from the first term, the focus moving forward is on strengthening learner attitudes, developing learner agency, and refining teaching practices to support deeper and more meaningful learning.
A key priority is the development of positive learner attitudes, including resilience, responsibility, and perseverance. Learners will be encouraged to approach challenges with confidence and to view mistakes as part of the learning process. For example, greater emphasis will be placed on showing work, explaining thought processes, and revisiting errors during class discussions, helping learners understand that improvement comes through reflection and effort. Collaborative tasks will also be used to reinforce respect, teamwork, and effective communication.
Learner agency will remain central to classroom practice. In the second term, learners will be given more opportunities to set personal learning goals, reflect on their progress, and make choices about strategies they use. For instance, learners may select methods to solve problems, assess their own work using success criteria, or identify areas they wish to improve. These practices aim to develop independence, motivation, and a sense of ownership over learning.
At the same time, continued reflection on teaching practice will guide improvements in instruction. Assessment will be used more purposefully to inform planning and differentiation, ensuring that support is provided where needed and challenge is available for learners who are ready to extend their thinking. Lessons will increasingly focus on questioning, discussion, and problem-solving rather than routine procedures, allowing learners to engage more deeply with concepts.
Overall, the second term is approached with clear intent and direction. By aligning learner attitudes, agency, and reflective teaching practice, the aim is to create a learning environment that supports sustained progress, active engagement, and meaningful learning for all learners.
